Max Pfeiffer moved in May 1911 to Hattingen an der Ruhr, where his stepfather had been named director of the Realgymnasium. Attended the Gymnasium in Hattingen. Max Peiffer was a good pupil, interested in physics and the natural sciences. His half-sister Grace Watenphul was born in 1913.
